Features of TI-ProBoard™

Unique Composite Material
TI-ProBoard is made from a specially-formulated composite material attached to a fiberglass base. The resulting strength and lightweight design create a structural base that eliminates the need for plywood backer boards or other substructure materials.
TI-ProBoard is pulled through a die to shape its unique features in process called Pultrusion. This process allows for the board to be pulled very slowly keeping its form and flatness. The glass fiber strands that make up the bulk of the weight of the boards are pulled through the die at extremely high temperatures and coated with specially formulated polymers. The polymer fused fibers result in a product with a deflection of 200,000 psi and a resistance to extreme environments.
TI-ProBoard’s design not only allows for strength and resistance, but also includes elements which benefit the installation of the boards. Along the length of the board each side has a clipping mechanism which allows the boards to join together to make solid surface across the joist structure. Another design feature of the board is the dove tailed ribs. Each rib is shaped to from a mechanical lock. These locks secure the mortar mix to the boards. These 2 elements together ensure a solid surface onto which the tile can set. For more information on the structural strength and design of TI- Proboard click the standards tab above.
